Kirsty, Gary and family welcome you to Waiwhenua Farmstay- a genuine New Zealand farmstay, River Side Park and Trout Fishing Adventures experienced right here on our commercially run 410 hectare sheep, beef and deer farm.

Hawkes Bay Farmstay

Hawkes Bay Farmstay Waiwhenua is set in the heartland of beautiful Hawke’s Bay situated less then an hours drive from Napier and Hastings cities or two hours drive from Waiouru in the central North Island Plateau. We are located on River Road accessed off the Napier – Taihape Rd close to the Kaweka Forest Park and other trout fishing rivers.

A perfect base for exploring the greater Hawkes Bay area. Many families and guests have enjoyed our hospitality and have had wonderful experiences and memories of their time on the farm. Guest book comments can be seen on our Guest Book page on this website.

Come and visit us at Waiwhenua and experience for yourself our wonderful farm, the River Park and the beautiful river full of rainbow trout. All freedom travelers and families are very welcome. An experience that you will never forget. Undoubtedly your visit will be one of your highlights to our beautiful province and country.

Our historic 120 year old homestead and garden can be visited whilst staying at the River Park. Also parking is available for camper vans in the garden at all times of the year.

Glamping and River Cabin

Want hassle free camping? Try our self-contained River Cabin or Glamping Tent. We offer our guests the choice of a well-appointed two room canvas tent in the shade of the willow trees or our beautiful comfy cabin with its great deck over looking the river. You just walk in to the well set up camp site or cabin making your stay a memorable and happy experience. Our full camp kitchen, including the pizza oven and BBQ is available for use. Alternatively whilst glamping, you can use the under the tree camp kitchen in your own open lounge for basic cooking. Toilet and washing facilities are all within easy access of your site. The cabin is set up with a basic kitchenette to boil the kettle for a cuppa on the deck.

Freedom Camping at the River Side Park

Now you just want to get away from it all and just want to freedom camp? There are plenty of shady trees and shelter from the wind at the Park right on the banks of the beautiful river. This is operational on a first in first serve basis or you can book a specific site as well for your group. Campers, caravans and tent guests are all welcome with the option of using the full facilities or just visiting as a freedom camper.

Freedom RV Parking at the Homestead

During some times of the year the farm track is unsuitable for larger vehicles and during the winter months we close the park altogether however we do welcome guests to park in our garden at the homestead. From here you are welcome to explore the farm and take walks to the river through the farm. This is only open to fully self-contained freedom RV’s, campers and caravans as we do not have outdoor facilities available. Guests are welcome to explore the garden, help themselves to the fruit from the trees and take a swim in the pool or spa.
